"Infinity Ward has announced that CoD:MW2 will not allow dedicated servers. This means that going online to play multiplayer will not allow you to pick a server. It will treat PCs the same as consoles, placing you into a random game based on your location. The game will not be run from a server, but rather from someone's home PC. The days of logging onto your favorite server with friends from around the world, will not exist with this game. Multiplayer games will be smaller in size, as the game runs on a player's computer not a dedicated server. Online competition will not be possible, there will be no clan servers.

Before you order this item, make sure you understand what you are getting. Singleplayer will not be affected. Multiplayer will be like playing on a console (xbox etc) instead of what PC gamers are used to (dedicated servers)."

It is true, and the advantage is to get more people to buy the game than ever before, and it seems to be working although all logic points against it.

As long as the game has fun multi player options I don't see a problem with the controlled server situation.

Yeah, I agree. Removing the PC features that PC users like and want is a good move to something different, especially since your definition 'different' is 'exactly the same as what's on the console and has already been there for years and PC gamers have already pretty clearly stated they don't like it'.

Why break something that isn't broken?

They cut the modding community out, the comp players, anyone who likes to play on 'their' server (like when OCN had a CoD4 server and you could play with your friends from here). They are ruining the game, jacking up the price and for no other reason then IW thinks the PC should be a console.

If you're a console gamer, you'll probably think MW2 is the greatest thing ever (I mean, look at all that hype it's gotta be great) but for PC gamers who have had real MP games, it's going to be crap and a major slap in the face. And anyone who buys it is accepting that and asking IW for more.

6v6 and 9v9 MAX is not fun on PC.
