I want to get this game, I really do, but the $60 price tag is just... to much. I liked the first game, but I got it when it was $20 for both the base game and the expansion. And I sucked at the story missions and multiplayer, knowing I would do the same with this. I loved the editor in the first game, and that's the thing I REALLY want to get my hands on, but $60 just for the editor???
I mean, if it was $30-40, it would still be a little high, but far more acceptable, but $60? I don't know... Try to convince me that it's worth it, or convince me that I should wait till it's less of a price gouge.

It depends if you like the gameplay. If you like the multiplayer and want to play it (regardless of how good you are), then you should be able to have fun with the new matchmaking. If you watch a replay on YouTube and enjoy it, understand what is going on (or at least would like to) and you feel like "I wanna play that!", then you should get it.
Custom maps, right now, aren't much to go for. There may not be too many good maps even later, because the publishing and custom map system sucks. If you just want to play the campaign (and it definitely has replay value), then there's another option.

I think the price is justified if you are a big RTS gamer. I have fallen in love with the MP and play about 3-4 hrs a day. If you are big into RTS's, then its worth it. If you are only going to play for a month then give it up, don't spend your money.

Eh you could always do what I do, wait a year or two and pick it up for cheap and when you want to play multi-player either 1. everyone has been playing for a year and you just can't compete or 2. barely anyone is playing it anymore.

Well, seeing as strategies from SC1 could move over to SCII, and in the beta I got beaten up and my lunch money taken away from me every time I tried multiplayer, it doesn't matter how long I wait.

I did read it, and I did do what you asked, I just didn't mention $60 specifically. I outlined the circumstances where I think it would be worth it to buy it [for $60], and when I don't think it's worth it [for $60].

I really feel that it's worth the $60 and that you should get it now. Also, you said you had a hard time with the single player and multiplayer. I recommend to take it slow and learn all you can. Trust me, you will start to understand the game. Sometimes it's hard to start from scratch, especially when we are used to doing well in other games that we play. But yes get the game now. It's worth the money, and it has high replay value, even for the single player.

I felt like $60 was a bit much for me as well but since I LOVED the campaign in the first SC I bought this one for the campaign as well. It has went so far above and beyond what I expected. The campaign is much different from the first one, many factors play in such as items you can upgrade, units you unlock, things you research. It is very hands on and a far cry from the static way of going through a set pattern of campaigns in the first one.
Honestly I sucked at the first one too I pretty much used the money and god-mode cheats in all of the campaigns on the first one but this one it much better play-wise to me. I've been playing on the "Normal" difficultly level and haven't been getting pummeled like I thought. I might eventually get around to playing multi-player with this but I'm essentially in it for the story/campaign right now. I too got my butt handed to me on the beta. The nice thing is Battlenet has ranks that will place you into a league of similar players so you can play with other people that suck (no offense, lol. Just being humorous). I was kind of hurt walking out of Gamestop thinking I just made a $60 gamble on a game I was buying simply for fanboyism (I'll admit that, lol). However, I've thoroughly enjoyed it these past two days and feel very happy that I didn't skip out on this. I love it.
