Default condensation

i "shorted" my board yesterday morning from condensation, it works fine after drying out, but i had a puddle ontop the cpu , everything still works fine, but i have a question, can i put something on my coldplate to stop this? maybe vasoline?

You don't want to put it on the cold-plate but you can fill the gap between the cold-plate and the bottom of the block if there is a air gap...I put neoprene all the way around my socket and then around the block to with the bottom of it a little longer...That way when I mount it it will compress and give an air tight seal...Of course I grease it up well with di-electric or vasoline also..Pack it in your socket real well to...Here are a couple of condensation guides...

well nothong is cold enough, its only my cold plate forming the condensation the drips onto the board./
its a small watt, when my 462 was overclocked it was around 25c

Oh OK..Yeah you could put it around the edges OK I wouldn't put any where it will get between the IHS and your cold-plate...You can put it on the mobo around the socket to.Vasiline tends to run when it gets hot I like dielectric grease better..

462 has no IHS... anyway, what about near the bottom of the coldplate? where the moisture gfalls onto the cpu

Yeah you can really put it anywhere like that as long as it doesn't get mixed up with the TIM...I had to do a bunch of remounts not long ago and that was a pain to keep cleaning the dielectric off the plate...

This pic is of my V8p, I put a 1/2" thick piece of neoprene around the socket then grease it up and put grease on the bottom of the neoprene on my block...All the neoprene on the block is air tight I use grease and liquid electrical tape to do that with...

Yeah but you can insulate it the same way, I haven't had any condensation issues doing them like that...The Maze has a 50x50mm base doesn't it? You could run up to a 320W Pelt on it if it is....Here is a link where I converted a plain V8 into a TEC block.Stinger V-8 Pelt Block ..You might be able to convert yours like that..I really like having a cold-plate like that so I can tighten them down well...This 437W I'm on now doesn't cool any better then that one did, but I'm having mounting problems with it, I broke off my back-plate bolts and I just kind of have it all hanging there now....
