Default Newby TEC system..

Ok ive given water cooling ago, now its time to play with some TECs, they are reallly cheap on ebay, but befor i buy them, are these usable?

Ive done a bit of reading and googling and get the jist of it, as with problems with condensation and sealing it all up.

I only have a problem deciding on what watt TEC i need, and if my powersupply is efficient to run it.

At the moment my watercooling is a thermaltake big water 745 (20c idel/45c load)

and in a box next to the pc i have a fuzion block, d5 pump, Black Ice GT Stealth 360 XFLOW radiator..

Is it possible to use a tec with the fuzion block?

The thermaltake block has a pretty big surface area and seems it would fit a 40x40 tec, is it just the matter of [tt water block] > [TEC] > [CPU], ive read some threads where people have done [block] > [copper] > [Tec] > [Copper] > [CPU], what is the best way?

Will the gear i have be enough for a cpu loop? The rad with 6fans in push/pull, id like to also TEC my gpu, but that can wait, im not really looking for -20c, but somthing decent.

my powersupply is a 600w toughpower, if need be id buy another one to run the TECs (if i go gpu) and waterpumps, as the arent that expensive.

Any info/advice would be great, thanks alot!

The Black Stealth should be replaced with AT LEAST a Thermochill PA120.3.

The are no GPU TECs because it is very hard insulating the GPU and would require too powerful of a TEC. Also, TT system will not be able to handle the heat load. Absolutely no way of handling two TECs.

after doing the maths you'd be lucky to get temps below ambient. you really need a bigger TEC. i assume your thinking of using a 172 40x40 TEC

Most water blocks can use a 50x50mm TEC, just measure it to make sure, it would need a 1.97" base.I wouldn't bother with anything under a 320W Pelt myself, its just a lot of electric bill and not much cooling..The WC'ing gear you have probably wont hold up to dissipating the load from teh TEC and your chip both...

If you really interested in going TEC find the biggest rad you can with some higher cfm fans and I would go dual pumps in series, if your single pump dies with a TEC in the loop you water can boil in just a minute...So I like to have redundancy with my pumps..Burn did use a 360 GTS with his 437W TEC with 6 fans in push-pull an dit worked OK...I'd get a 480GTX or a quad-core heater-core they would either one be fine 120 - Quad...Most normal sized WB's can use up to a 50x50mm TEC, if you want to go with a 437W fstfrddy makes on to fit it..Stinger Water Blocks. For a 320W you can either buy a PSU like this....Or just mod out a ATX one with a real solid 12V rail, say 26+ amps, thats what I did with my 320W and it worked out fine...If you go 320W or so a 1/2" cold-plate works pretty good your temp's wont bounce around so much...On larger ones a 1/4" plate is supposed to work better, I'm making a 3/8" plate for mine now the 1/4" on just lets my temp's bounce up way to fast...

Take your time and read up on it a bit and it will be fairly easy to set one up..Here is how I made a cold-plate for a Stinger block...Stinger V-8 Pelt Block
