I received my pelt along with a cold plate yesterday. Problem is that the cold plate has significant scratches on both sides. You would think that the manufacturer would do more than simply send me a slap of copper. But anyway, what is the best way to lap the cold plate to a usable finish without putting any curves onto the plate? Were talking significant scratches. (Btw the pelt had a chip exposing some of the metal as well

as for the thing with a chip i would send it back. might not cause any problems but i would rather have something that is not flawed.

Lap it with 200-300 grit sandpaper.
What TEC kit did you get?

Well since you have a chip yes you should send it back but if you wanted to get the scratches out the easiest way to do it is take sand paper sand it down and keep taking a higher grit sand paper and sand it more. Which is to replace bigger scratches with smaller scratches which is what sanding does which is pretty cool.
