Im intending on making a pretty basic water cooled chiller. I intend on using a 50mm 226watt TEC between to Swiftech Apogee GT water blocks. I intent to cool a load of about 80-90 watts with this setup.
I am then using a Sunbeam Theta TP101 fan controller to control the electricity going to the TEC. The TP101 isn’t able to handle the current of a TEC, so I’ll use it to control a rely to switch between say 3 volts and 7. The idea behind using the TP101 is that i’ll be able to keep the water at the same temp irrelevant of load. This will also mean when the system isn’t loaded it won’t be using as much electricity and condensation will be reduced. What do you guys think ? |

Good idea, I was thinking of making a temperature controlled chiller. Id even sketched out a rough diagram of a circuit (surprisingly cheap and easy to make) which takes air temperature and relative humidity and made sure that the system doesn't go below dew point.
The problem is that my plan is too complicated in terms of variable power supply for someone of my abilities (might get my dad to help over Christmas). Your idea seems much simpler to implement and therefore better. |

My way of doing it is pretty cheap and easy .. all you need is a relay and a Zenner Diode ..(you wouldn't need the zenner if you had a t-balancer)
The only problem i see with using a rely is that it'll make a noise turning on and off I think i'll move onto a variable system later when i have more money i'd need a M-cube T-balance and a voltage regulator or mosfet for it to work. I dont think it would be hard at all to convert any PSU into an analog variable system all you need is a voltage regulator . |

Kind of like the old Swifty chiller, I think they used 2-226W pelts though...Swiftec MCW-Chill 452....Look forward to seeing it...
