Default Single pump TEC chiller idea

Was reading some TEC threads and then wondered why this isn't possible:

Instead of buying another loop to cool the TEC hotside, just splt the loop with a y splitter, use a bigger pump and a much bigger radiator, and adjust the needle valve to compensate for the CPU (And other water block) restrictions. Then they join back up either at a Y piece or reservoir.

To my knowledge, this would work.

Think about it....

The hot and cold will mix resulting in zero net gain. However, actual temperatures will INCREASE due to inefficiency. The TEC hot side is outputting more heat than the cold side cooling. Also, the best water temperature you can get with setup is.... ambient. Any excess cooling will be nullified as the radiator absorbs heat from the air.

Hmm, I am always one for new thinking in cpu & tech design...but here I would have to agree with duck...and ultra...lol.

Still goes to show that man is always thinking of something...and that is good. I think that air trumps all of setups in terms of economics at the moment. But, if your wishing for performance your gonna endup having something that is overkill.

And, while I don't yet have two gpu cards...the trend for gamers and o.c.s' is going into this area...so new tec designs are a good thing...I plan on having a second 3870x2 soon.

Of course I want to o.c. too...a friend of mine said I should cascade tecs to chill water...I am not sure about this though.

think it's simpler cheaper to just add an additional large raditor to my Aqua Computer 360XT setup...

Hey guys I know this is getting of topic...but...on the tec subject...I think that I am wanting to take that bump up to phase change.
Still I do have a plan to design & sell a tec water chilled system in the future that would economically chill water for two gpu cards, memory, chipset, power supply & cpu...

im not sure theres to much value in TEC'ing the GPU's . i went from air cooling to watercooling and i didn't get anymore clocks out of it.. so the value of a gpu cooler could be limited.

Default tec'ing

Hi Duck,

You have a good point...any cooling to the gpu other than air must be effective enough to overkill(clock) other wise it's just going to be a different way of cooling to get the same results.

I actually think that no current sold water tower is effect enough to cool a cpu, chipset, memory, "2" gpu cards (crossfire/sli); especially when all of these are overclocked.

Custom water setups or adding additional radiators to water towers is another thing.
