Hi guys, I want your opinions on this situation. (I've also read some topics on xtremesystems, but for so odd reason I cannot register on their forums so I can only lurk. I also searched this forum too)
So I was thinking getting a phase change unit and making an ac out of it, but I'd rather use something a bit smaller that I can actually fit into a case. So my idea is to have about 300 watts of cooling from tec's (most likely 2 of of the 300 watters running at 150). I plan to make a rather large heatsink for both the hot and the cold plate. I plan to pretty much seal the case, except for the exhaust air out of my graphics card (I'll have a small inlet to accommodate for this) so it'll be recycled air The computer will be insulated with 1/2 inch of neoprene the tec will be in the bottom of the case that has the hot heatsink with fans seqestered I also hopefully plan to run this off of only 1 psu for everything (I'm not sure how powerful the psu will need to be, but I'm looking for a minimum of 850 watts) So I'm looking to probably get about 6 heatsinks for each side of the plates and connect them. I'm just wondering how well this would work since I know pelts aren't the most efficient cooling nor would it be an easy task, but I'm bored. Ideally the bulk of the heat from the graphics card will exit and that the rest of the components total heat will be less than 300 watts. The other option in AC, but I figure I'd ask people here first to see what you guys think. I also thought about just doing the water cooling/pelt, but that's just too normal lol.

Why not just build a water chiller with an ac unit? If you're keeping the peltiers inside the case and having both the hot and cold side air in the case, then that is pointless. You have the hot and the cold together in the same space which would just equalize and not change the temp at all. I don't recommend TECs as they aren't very efficient on newer processors. I would suggest either going water, using a water chiller, or going phase change. Another "ghetto rigged" idea would be to run a dryer vent from the front of a window ac unit to your case and have a fan pulling the air in.

lol not to be an ass, but I said sequestered above meaning they're be separated. Yeah I'd love the idea of a water chiller, but it's a bit big and cumbersome to move around. Also the benefits of water vs good aircooling isn't enough to merit it's extra price especially seeing as how I already have a thermalright 120 ultra.
I'm planning to cram this into a case larger than the antec 900 and have it all contained into 1 neat box. Also I move somewhat frequently and I don't want to have extra peripherals to connect and such. (I'm quite forgetful)

TEC's aren't necessarily inefficient. it just depends on what temp difference your shooting for . if your going for 69 then it'll be ridiculously inefficient . if your going for just a few degrees C then it can be more efficient then a basic A/C unit i still like the idea of cooling the whole case . as this is how you can avoid/ manage condensation . other than the usual impractical manner
