Day 5: Some new goodies!

This case can fit everything, including the kitchen sink!

Swiftech MCR-220 rad for the NB and RAID card!

The fans go underneath the case, and still have room for airflow!

And because I'm impatient with the RMA, and I really, really don't trust ASUS, I just bought a new mobo. I'll sell the other one if they accept to RMA it (newegg didn't!).

Inside it's MB block

Check this out - some serious pumpage

New motherboard in place!

Only thing that sucks is it looks like I won't be able to get to any of the plugs at the bottom.

I'm also waiting on a regular CPU block to try this board out for a while before insulating it. No sense in wasting another wad of cash....

good stuff bro... but Ive heard some iffy stuff about the blackOps board... I was thinking of going with blackops or the 790i as you can see I went with the 790i cuz there were more positive reviews for that board... Everyone says its more just a benching mobo not really for regular use... but anyways I hope you have a great time with it bro keep up the good work

Yeah I read the same stuff, but that's because of two things:

1) Its not very compatible with much RAM. If your RAM uses the new Micron or Samsung ICs, then you're fine. But older sticks won't work well. I double checked the OCZ sticks I got, and they should work fine.

2) Its not as stable as it could be at super-high FSBs (500+). In my case, with a QX chip, I can afford to run a lower FSB because of the unlocked multiplier.

Besides - for 24/7 use I've got my laptop. This PC will end up being used pretty much just for gaming and when I need the power for writing certain programs. Not like anyone needs a 4+GHz quad to sit and mess around on OCN anyway

well you seem to have done your research adn im glad and you know what the blackOps is definitely an AWESOME looking board and from what Ive heard it actually has a decent built in block un like the crapy ones from Asus. and as for requirments to be on OCN curently at work I am on a Pentium 3 @ 664Mhz, 12MB ram -_- and windows 2000 (cuz im an intern atm). which is absolutely horrible I cant open more than two windows at a time firefox does not work at all way too slow. so yea very true dont need 4+Ghz but i would love to have atleast 1Ghz but anyways get MOAR PICS!! you can never have too many

Be careful with that blackops. The inside of the block is copper, but the top is anodized aluminum. Iandh made a small run of acetal tops for the blackops a few months back. Might wanna PM him to see if he has an extra lying around.

Yeah, Im SO not making the same mistake twice!

I just cant wait for the waterblock to arrive, this way we can find out if it actually was the MB that was bad and not the CPU!

Its the same way for the Arctic Web CPU block I have.

But I'll go ask him right now anyway, thanks

Well the CPU waterblock hasn't got here yet, so it looks like testing is going to have to wait until monday.

But anyway, I got a question - think it would be ok if I removed that MCR220, and just had the NB/RAID loop share the res with the CPU? Its just completely blocking the front panel ports on the bottom of the MB :/

It would probably make the NB and card run hotter then if you just left the HSF' on them..These 437W are heaters....You could just t-line the NB and card, that would get your space back....
