That TEC is going to be giving off 437W of heat, plus whatever the CPU gives off (probably around 150W or so). So that needs a lot of RAD power!

Plus, the thing with TECs, is that if the WC loop stops working the temps will shoot up from 0C to >100C as fast as under 5 seconds. So if one of the pumps goes out, having the second one there is a good failsafe.

I bet you will be pushing close to 2.5-3 gpm actual loop flow with those D-5 in series, gives me a warm fuzzy feeling just looking at it..

I love those GTX, there such a nice thick rad, wait till you get your fans and shrouds on them, its just sick...

I know, I can't wait!

I'm gonna have the fans before the shrouds though, I can't find anywhere local that can sell me a couple of POS fans. Cheapest so far is newegg @ $4/fan....which isn't worth it.

They used to be pretty easy to find at the surplus stores for a couple of bux each, now its just rare when we can find them for that...

Look around at the "Electronics Goldmine", "BG Micro", "All Electronics" and places like that...Usually we can get the 24vdc and 48vdc 120x38mm fans the cheapest..

I'm like you I'm not spending over $2 or so, plus the shipping on a fan to gut..If you have to even 120x25mm gutted fans are better then no shroud..

I used to make mine out of aluminum channel, its a pain though because you have to cut the frames out to match the fans or they restrict air flow, there nice and solid when you get them made though..CD would probably make you some like that..

the projects are growing like CRAZY!!! b4 you know it we will have as many ppl in this section as the watercooling section (a man can dream)
Hey these new 45Nm are perfect for TEC cooling with there lower v-core...I like them a lot, they remind me of Opty's as cool as they run and they OC like a bat out of a well...

Now THIS is what I'm talking about! That Perc 5/i card actually works on this board (it didn't work on my last one) so it looks like I might actually pick up some SAS drives

Anyway, the PC is all set up for overclocking, this is stock speeds with air cooling:

This is the best $14 heatsink you can get your hands on

Incoming air OCs soon - to compare what this Air cooling will take the CPU to, versus the TEC.

Very Cool Manyak!! Dont let the wife see the credit card bill!!! Hey you need to get a couple of the Detroit Thermo D5 tops for the pumps. I havent read much lately on TEC cooling lately and was wondering how much protection around the CPU you have to do to avoid condensation problems? Im glad your new motherboard works with your dell card, I just ordered a new DFI LP LT X48-T2R board to get rid of the bandwidth bottle neck on myP35 board.
OH yeah +rep

Good MB choice . Those DFIs are great overclockers!

And the CPU will have to be very well insulated. Its gotta have dielectric grease between the CPU and socket, neoprene completely surrounding and enclosing it, and some conformal coating (or liquid electric tape or something) on the back of the board, also covered with neoprene. In other words, the socket and surrounding area can have absolutely no contact with air whatsoever.

Well the OC so far is 400MHz FSB w/9x multi (3.6GHz) @ 1.35V. It can probably do it with a bit less, I'm rushing it a bit. I'm gonna call it a night though, and keep going tomorrow.

Edit:
I think the highest this CPU is going on this $14 cooler is 3.79GHz. The temps are getting a bit too high, and its taking big jumps in voltage (now at 1.4V) to go up small steps in the FSB.

I hope those fans get here tomorrow, so we can see what this chip can really do!
