Day 3: Fans arrived, test setup complete!
The first layer of neoprene, testing out the shape and size it has to be: ![]() Conformal coating spread around the socket. Its almost invisible... ![]() Dielectric grease stuffed in the socket: ![]() The CPU is now good to go! ![]() Conformal coating on the back ![]() Neoprene on the back. It should be black, damn flash. ![]() Bullet connectors to extend the length of the pelt's wires ![]() Spade connectors for a clean connection to the second PSU ![]() Second PSU hooked up ![]() The setup! ![]() ![]() This is the money shot right here: ![]() Now for the bad news: The temps aren't anywhere near what I expected... Idle temps: ![]() Load temps: ![]() I'm gonna try reducing the thickness of the neoprene around the socket to see if it helps, maybe its absorbing too much of the pressure. Other than that, anyone got any ideas?

Yea those temps can't be right. An overclocked QX9650 can't be pulling more than 150-175w...

damn thats way higher than it should be... try trimming the neoprene around the socket so more pressure can go on the CPU... and also whats your ambient temp in the room?? and what im thinking is that this might be a bad pelt are you planning on getting another 437W pelt? they arent too expensive
