Default Universal 62mm TEC block

Right i've decided to make some universal 62mm TEC blocks, that people can slide under their existing water OR air coolers.

in the pic you can see some faced copper (with a random bit on it) and a CNC of the cold plate that'll be 10mm think and made of copper. it's not cut out of the surrounding MDF yet but you get the idea.

I think something like this would work really well with a 360/437Q TEC and a very low input voltage

Why are you doing this? How thick is the copper?

It will be made from 12mm (1/2inch) copper .. but milled down to 10mm

One point of this is it'll fit under any water block and it wont need replacing when the socket changes .. it should fit 775 1366 939 and am2 . might remind everyone that you can't currently get a 62mm water block

But the real point of this is so you can air cool the TEC with something like a TRUE or better.

Looks good! The thicker you make them the better they maybe for a HSF. I rarely go under 3/8" copper cold-plate anymore for direct die, it will hurt you by a few C full load temp's, but the temp's stay a lot more even. Instead of taking 1/10 of a second to go from idle to load it might take a 1/2 second. Doesn't sound like much but that usually lets me run a few hundred more Mhz stabely. I've tried 1/2" but I kind of like the 3/8" a little better, it has a little better load temp's and still helps with the temp spikes.

I learned that trick here.... Cold Plate Materials and Thickness-Bill Adams

o yeah . i just point that out for people that are less familiar with the imperial to metric conversion.

i also need the 10mm thickness so i can get the TEC above the Max component hight around the socket so it can technically be compatible with 775 and 1366 sockets .. that is as long as Motherboards stick to the guidelines
