Default In-line peltiers

so if you took a TEC and put a block either side and ran lines out, one hot one cold would it be possible to cool liquid sub ambient this way

just means there wouldn't be all that gunk etc on the mobo
the hot side would go to rad/fans

if you had two inline you could get about 300-600W cooling power
its probably been done, or failed before but i just wondered peoples opinions on the matter

*tried to make up a sketch but my sketch-up skills failed and autocad is on the other harddrive

You'd still need that "gunk" if you're doing anything sub-ambient.

Default I don't use gunk.

I don't use any "GUNK" however for 24/7 use I only run my coolant about 6*c below ambiant my CPU keeps the temps up and no condensation. for more extreme cooling I go to a lower ambiant temp and can run much cooler. I have an air exchanger setup in my computer room and I exchange my air with the air conditioned space under the stairs my computer room is usally about 15*c all year round. and in the winter I keep my garage at 0*c so that is where I Do my low temp runs as long as your not too far below ambiant then you dont need any "Gunk" in the socket or insulated lines. but if you don't have a way to control the temps then you might have to grease your socket.

I'd just stick the cool side of the pad on the CPU and put a waterblock on the hot side to disspate the heat.

How much do you value your CPU? If you do that you will end up with condensation around boot time and low CPU usage.

Look at the phase change crew, they just stick a bit of blu-tac around the chip, preventing any condesation from forming or protecting the chip itself from the condensation. Lots of people have done it.

And I value my CPU lots
