I'll move this over to the TEC sub-forum, some of the guys there use them.

A Freezone Elite should be enough for a quad cores but if you plan to upgrade to an i7 soon, you're better off money-wise getting a Boreas from the get-go.
A FZE is really not enough for any i7 CPUs and two FZEs end up being more expensive than a Boreas.

Modding the Pure is not really worth it. The Domino is its successor but not much better.
I've got one brand new Domino for sale if you're interested, never even opened the box.

I get 10-12C at idle and 42C at load with 25C ambient temp.
XenoMorpH has a similar setup and he gets 28C load on his AMD 940BE.

@ira-k: Not all Coolit stuff is TEC related The Pure he's using has no TEC on it...

@Uberkhy
A pure is took weak for a quad. I had mine running on an OCed 9850BE, but it could not handle the temps. I was better off using a CM Z600 with 2x 140mm fans in push-pull combinations with less noise. Untill I got myself a FreeZone Elite (cheap on ebay) and modded it with a rad at first. After that I got myself a 2nd FZE and put both of them in series, my OCed 940BE with 1.47V @ 3737MHz is cooled down to 28C full load with both FZE's @ 100% cooling power.

For $200 you can get an average CPU only liquid solution, which you can always expand by adding a new rad or cpu block.
A Pure or Domino are great products, yet only successful at stock cpu stock speeds.

If you change the rad and block, you're just a pump shy of having a real custom loop.

Also, larger tubing would increase the flow and give better temps at the same time.

Here's what my chiller setup looks like:

I would have gone for a MCP655 pump instead of the Danger Den one. Adding a top would also be a good idea but it can be done later if your budget is tight already.

The Kooance 350 CPU block is the most restrictive block on the market so you want all the pumping power that you can get.
The Enzotech Luna is half the price of the Koolance one and the difference is only 1-2 degrees according to HESmelaugh's charts.
