i would think this block is very UN-restrictive actually

Dont for get that when making a TEC block you heed to ensure all of the block gets roughly the same flow becasue the heat is roughly = arross it's surface.

this is very different compared to a CPU block which pritty much only cares about the centre.

i would think id be better off with shallower channels to get the velocity up .

i dont have a very good W/C system so everyone should get better results than i do.

it's gonna take me a while to make the top for this thing

Personally I think it'll work pretty good it's roughly the same design as a lot of the professional TEC waterblocks. Only difference is it's made of copper .

Hey it's looking good!....Your right if you keep the lower part shallow it should up the velocity a little.

Can you not get a little piece of Delrin there to make a top? It machines really nicely. HDPE might work to though, all I've ever done with it is drill and use files to shape it, but it didn't burn with a drill bit so maybe a mill will work to.

Delrin is 4 times the price of HDPE here .. so it's completely unrealistic when i have to buy it by the square meter.

HDPE is an "engineering" plastic and can be machined.

However

im gonna see if i can make an acrylic top for this thing now. as i would really like to beable to see the inner workings of the block .. Im sure this will be a bad idea though cos of how flexible acrylic is .... so im sure im wasting my time.... it's all learning for me though

dont forget the cutting fluid when doing acrylic, and take it slow.

maybe these pics will give you some more ideas
obviously you'll want the large stepped one.
