Well I have had my CoolIT for a few years but im not so happy with the cooling with my Q6600 clocked to 3.0ghz even with only 1.25v its still going up above 60C.
Its quite impressive at idle shown here: ![]() This is after 25 minutes on prime95: ![]() I didnt see any temp changes after about 10 minutes so it looks stable at that temp. I of course just reseated the chip and applied new AS5. I am a fan of CoolIT because its all plug and play but this eliminator just aint cutting the mustard. I have been wanting to push it up to the high 3's or perhaps 4 but I dont see that happening. I need good suggestions on cooling solutions and prices and stuff. I think next year after my next deployment ill look into a phasechange setup so i can pump it up a notch but until then I need solutions that dont cost so much

...i get better temps than that with my sig rig...i idle at 25 using a cheap Vendetta 2.
How much did you pay for this?

The Eliminator was build for cooling Singlecores and dualcores, not for quads.
You could think about modding the thing, like some of us have done with the Freezone or Elite: http://www.overclock.net/peltiers-te...nofficial.html In you case, a FZE will do its job just fine cooling a Q6600

Not terribly surprised. A q6600 is a bit much of a heat load for that lil tech. I often see recommendations to just not bother trying to tec 65nm quads even w/ more powerful custom setups, much less a cool-it.

This is interesting, as I have 10 degree higher indle temps and 5 degree lower load temps than you with my Eliminator on a Q9450. Running 3.2 GHz @ 1.2V.

Yeah I swapped out my q6600 for new technology and bought a q9650. Wow what a difference in load temps. The E0 stepping and 45nm technology saved me like 30*c under load from what I had to beat my q6600 up to get to the 3ghz's. I at stock voltages all over and went up to 3.6ghz. Went to 4ghz with just 1.25v. Although that got me up in very high 60*C range again. Its funny I can hit 4ghz at same temps I was hitting 3ghz on my q6600. With my Eliminator.
Im not happy though. it may keep me in the sub ambient temps at idle but it deltas hardcore. I bought it 2 years ago so yeah its outdated. Perhaps a freezone elite would do better but I think I am going water cooling now with a 360rad. I want to get high 4ghz's range
