Ok, so i found a surprize sale and the freezone elite (usually $400 CAD, give or take) was on for 299, so i grabbed it. It worked great on my 920 at stock speeds. with fans and tecs at 75% (quiet enough that you couldn't really hear it), i could get about 20-30c idle. on max settings, i was getting about 3-4 degrees below ambient.
__________________then i overclocked it to 4ghz... my idle temps: 37 +/- 3 degrees my load temps (prime95 64bit, 8 threads): starts in the 80s, and slowly climbs to 98+, at which point i stopped the torture test. i know it does a great job at day to day stuff, and i never really need to run all 8 threads at 100%, but still, i dont like those numbers at all. i'm going to re-apply the thermal paste (mx-2) but i suspect it will not yield much. i'm considering adding a single 120mm rad after the water block, to help with the heat. i just wanted to hear your opinions/suggestions, if any.

Take it back and get something better. That is my opinion.

IMO if you can return the Freezone Elite, do it. The $$ spent on it could have built a killer water cooling loop that would perform much better.

freezone is a great unit for lower heatloads, but an OC'd i7 goes over its max, and then things start to heat up quickly. get a reservoir, a nickel plated GPU block from koolance, some 1/4" barbs and cool your card with it. should do nicely on that. oh wait, you have 2 of em... if they dont run that hot it may even pull both cards.. but i really dont dare say that.

ok, so lets brainstorm a bit. if i added the cpu to my 4890 loop (before the gpu) could i also drop a 320w peltier between the waterblock and the cpu? i've never erally doe much with peltiers and would like to maybe give it a shot, however i've also read that its not as easy as just placing one between two things. is that right? i bet there are some threads here as well. ièll look around.

well if you found the threads i think i dont have to stress the fact that a 320W tec isnt nearly enough for an i7... and TECs in general wont do much good.

ok, so i know ièm jumping around, but i quickly dropped the tec idea: too much work and too much to risk. ièm thinkiong of (*cry*) placing a dual 140mm radiator (here) on top of my pc-p50 case. I was thinking it might be worth it to incorperate the dual rad into the same loop as the freezone elite and have them work together like so:
__________________pump > dual 140mm rad > elite > cpu > gpu1 > gpu2 > t-line/res > pump so i thikn youère mostly going to say that its too much heat for that rad and cooler to handle, so thats why ièm asking. is this a possibility?

normally, combining a rad and a chiller is bad, but since you're overloading the chiller it should do better. however, you'd be better off removing the chiller alltogether, selling it on ebay, and get yourself some good watercooling gear to go with that rad.
