Default So what do you guys think

about a 437W TEC on an i7?

Will it do anything for it that plain WC won't, or is the heat dump way too high?

To respond to both of you...

I already have the arctic web, teo d5 varios, two GTX480 rads w/ high speed panaflos, and the PSU.

But if 4.4GHz is all it's gonna reach it's really not worth the cost and headache of running, I'd wanna sell it and just stick to water and get 4GHz.

i definately wouldnt sell it... save it for later, for a different chip. you'd be passing up some great cooling gear.

I wonder how much of a difference you'd get if you didn't use the 437 (I doubt it is) to a real 400.

as i remember 437watt peltier specification Qmax=437 at T=55C and Qmax=360 at T=27C... so module with Qmax=400 at T=27 will have Qmax=480 at T=55, about 10% cooling perfomace increase... not so much

Well the biggest problem I have is that the only case that'll fit the rads is a MM case for $800. Which I can't get myself to buy. I've been sitting for days now trying to pull the trigger on it but I can't, lol.

I mean hell, for $800 + whatever I get from the TEC setup I could probably get a two stage phase change unit.

I doubt it would be worth the electric bill to run it. But I'd at least try it out before you sell it......Or sell it and put the money towards a single stage.

EDIT: ^^^There you go, a good single stage would hold a decent load and not cost any more in electricity.
