Default Should I get 2 TECs or should I just make a fridge?

So I have a amd pehnom II 955 BE which i will be overclocking, it will have a Thor's Hammer heatsink on it with 2 133cfm fans on it. And I have one 177watt peltier that i know isnt powerful enough to run this. So should i get a second of the same peltier and stack them under this heatsink or should i just forget it and make a fridge out of the TEC??

don't bother with air cooling past 100 watts I've done the 225 watt on a mugen 2.

past a 100 watts the heat sink will be come an inferno(50-55C maybe), so the temperature delta won't be useful to overclock.

it's best to water cooling the hot side past 100 watts.

They have tecs and water blocks.
you'll probably want to use a koolance aluminum rad as they use aluminum blocks.
that's if your did direct die cool

getting more of them is the best way to do it. make a chiller that way, one cold loops and one hot loop.

Gadgeteer...If i am reading you right, you should not stack TEC's.

If you mean put one TEC on top of the other thinking the top one will cool the lower one getting great cooling....unfortunately it does not work as you think.

It does NOT increase the cooling.
TEC's are merely heatpumps moving heat from one side of the TEC to the other and adding the heat generated by the internal works.
Say the bottom TEC is working flat out and moving 177w heat from your CPU. it transfers that heat to the hotside and also add the heat it generates itself so coming off the hotside is (177 x 2) 354w. On top of that you have plonked another 177w TEC.....ooops 354w is far too much top TEC burns out.
Not a good scenario.

So okay lets look at another way...
Bottom TEC is undervolted and only moves 75w now we have a hotside of 150w...that's better. So the top TEC moves 150w and gives off 300w from the hotside. GREAT....BUT hang on we have only moved 75w heat from the CPU and we have used 2 TEC's to do it...well that's no flaming good is it.

Hmmm....so you see despite what you may have heard in the past or see in old threads STACKING is an absolute no go...don't even think about it.

The moral of this story is that the top TEC is rarely able to cool the lower TEC and also no matter how many TEC's you pile up the heat moved by the whole stack is only equal to the heat moved by the TEC at the bottom of the stack.
