Build me one. Plain and simple.
Looking to do this, but I don't want to spend TOO much. Already have res and pump. I prefer not to go over a dual 120mm fan radiator. I was thinking about 2 of the swiftech mw60-t's for ease of setup factor. |

For GPu cooling you cant really go direct die a.) because of the space constraints b.) you need a powerful TEC i.e. one big in physical size and it is difficult to match it to a GPU which generally are very small, you need extra copper plates and everything.
SO....it will have to be a TEC chiller....these are expensive you WON'T get one cheap. and as there aren't any "builders" per se, you are highly unlikely to get anyone to do this for you. And by the way..."Plain and simple" is a far too basic way of looking at this... Last edited by zipdogso : 4 Weeks Ago at 07:43 AM |

why not just use the mcw60-t's? they are rated @ 188w. Which should be plenty for a single 5870. Keep in mind the entire 5870 is only rated @ 180w, including the ram, etc.

While that may work I would not recommend it, as it costs more than it is worth in terms of higher OC you can reach.

You need 2-3 times more wattage from the TEC then your chip dump to get any kind of decent temp's.

well build me something. =o)~ reason I'm asking. I just don't want to spend 400-500 dollars on a tec for a single gpu. I would just buy cryo-z and get duniek to make me a gpu mount for it. That actually sounds kinda tempting anyways. I think I'd rather tec it though. I'm sure I could always get the mcw60-t and just replace the tec in it. Nothing some insulation and duct tape can't fix.

You could always have a custom block made or something that will hold a larger one, it wouldn't be worth it to me. TEC cooling is really pretty marginal for the money you put into it. I have a tricked out CPU rig and it will barely hold a E8### chip a little over 5Ghz at 6-10C Prime, idles -30C or so and burns as much electric as a SS. Before I'd sink a lot of money into a TEC GPU loop i'd let Duniek do his thing to it.Unless your just wanting to play with TEC's, they are fun.
