Don't get one to big, the bigger the TEC the higher the chance that it will break its own internal connections due to thermal differences on each side of the die. You can get cheap ones on eBay. I have ordered about 10 of them and they work well. I have never ordered the expensive ones so I cannot comment on efficiency differences, but you want to make sure you have a PSU that can handle the TEC you choose if you do not plan on getting another PSU just to run the TEC. Those things draw a lot of power.

I buy from TE Tech. They do have an $85 minimum, but, I like them.

So far as I am aware they don't make 500 or 600w TEC's. The highest you'll find is a 400w here: http://www.shop.customthermoelectric...8.qscstrfrnt03

Yeah...Flak is right if your looking for 500w-600w in a single unit you aint gonna get it. Not from a standard catalogue anyway. If you planning orders of thousands one of the bigger houses might consider the possibility of a custom unit but it would be a world first (I am not including military units.)....and what a sucker of a PSU you'd need to power it as well....

That's why why I say we are reaching a plateau for direct die CPU cooling the choice of TEC's is....well...not a choice.

And typoknig is partly right too...the bigger the TEC the more violent the internal vibration and it is that , that will break the solder joins unless you clamp to a sufficient pressure.

But I can't run 400 watt at full power for a long time.

Tsk..Tsk.....That sounds like a small child about to chuck their toys out of the pram.

IF they don't make it ...you can't buy it.....join the club...

That's why you use more TEC's undervolted to get to the higher heat moves.
