im sure its being done but has anyone here taken the ihs off and had the evap head sit directly against the core
__________________i was thinking about it, place a nice cutout piece of foam over the transister thingys and attach the evap (ensuring proper contact ofcourse) directly over the core i think it can be done relatively easy but any past experience would be much appreciated

Youll need to pull the actual cooling head out a lil to come in contact. Sometimes there pulled just enough for IHS contact (depending on what one you use)

ok well im using the mach IIgt stock (the square one that comes with it) and the heas sits off of the body part about 1/8" i think (sure youve scene it) but i dont think i can pull it out any farther because of how they build the heads on these things

Well ive tried with a Mach II same thing and it wont reach a die. Youll have to find a way to pull the head out another 1/4 in

You could always put another heat spreader on it.

yes but dangerous endeavour. I've seen too many people killing cpu's taking IHS out and put it on phase. Almost anyone who tried had at least one dead CPU AFAIK.
Mach mounting head is "glued" in... basically they put foam after placing it up. It will be extremely hard to take out the foam. |
