Okay well I am looking into going phase before next summer but there is a fat roadblock for me
When I do go phase, I am also constructing or getting a new case to house everything. The phase unit will be integrated into the chasis of my new case Now here is where my problem is If I buy a pre-build phase unit that happened to be what I want, I could easily build my custom case around that just given the dimensions and work with it. Straight forward and simple but that leaves me with lack of customizing the chasis to how I want it, being that I am restricted by the size of the pre-built phase unit's base. If I get a custom phase unit made, I could build my case how I wanted and simply instruct the size of the phase unit contaner to conform to the base of my case as wanted. Now another issue I have is how the pre-built units compare to a custom unit. This is what i need answered most What is the price difference in custom units versus pre-made units of comparable performance? Are pre-made units of lower quality? I want my phase unit to have a decently low operating noise, something that I could sleep near if required. Are either of the choices preferred for 24/7 continuous usage? Thanks, I know a few guys here have the pre-made units, not many with custom ones though.

Pre-built are usually around $1000 but you can get on eBay for less.
A good custom built will be tuned to your load to maximize performance. You can get a custom-built for $300-600. When ordering a custom, you can ask for low-noise as a priority.

Shoot, even $600 would be a deal considering most prebuilt units start at $800 + Thanks Duckie

You'll probably be better off asking for a rotary compressor if you want low noise - their more expensive though.
Go for a custom from a well known builder

And how much more expensive is "more expensive"? And do you know any well known builders? I have PM'ed NoL before but he seems very inactive during school semester times

Don't forget that these units do use a significant amount of power. Expect your power bill to go up $20-50 per month if run it 24/7.

These two are the only prebuilt phase units I've ever seen:

Although, yeah, power draw will go up by quite a bit since not only will I be using a compressor to cool a CPU, the CPU itself will eat more electricity from being clocked higher ![]() Quote:
Vapochill had 3 models and the brand that made MachGT has one out right now, and there is also Chilltek. And I have no intention of making my own.

especially low cost ones, you get way you pay for, and sometimes pay more in the end because of a dead cpu because of low quality, low wattage tuned systems. customs FTW

Fans don't use that much power... maybe 5w. Even if you have 50 fans, they would still use less power than phase...
