Default phase change.. interesting...

I heard about this when i posted my flamed radiator in freezer idea... and decided to read here about it.

Looks very cool, very cold and everything, but still can't understand how it actualy works and if it requires any kind of "refilling" or if it's a install and forget about it kind of thing.

Can anyone explain me how it works and what it requires and how much it can cost?

Looks way cooler than WCing and sounds like less of a hassle than ln2 stuff.
Note that i might be way off track on this, started reading up on it just 5 mins ago... i must say it's very interesting.

Think air conditioner.... and... well... no.. that's it.

It takes a gaseous refrigerant and places it under pressure forcing it into liquid form. Then liquid gets piped to a heat source where it rapidly evaporates into a gas. Then repeat.

The evaporate or phase change absorbs heat. Think what happens when you sweat... the sweat evaporates taking some of the heat away and cooling you.

A basic phase unit will use 200-300w...

Probably say 100W to 300W yes; however watch out for these rotary units and such, could be 2 or 3x the power of that unless its running a proper condensing pressure ratio.

Okay, well that didn't really help. I'll stick with WCing for the new rig
