Default Critique my potential purchases

Rietchle vte8 vacuum pumps
Anyone know the micron rating for this thing? Lowest is best, right?

gauges

I can get both the gauges and pump for ~$120, shipped. Considering I'm a weekend warrior, will these be enough or just a waste of money?

What temperatures are you planning on running at?

What are you going to use the pump for?

looks good except 1 thing, doesn't canada use 120volts? that is 230volt. i guess you could bring a step up transformer everywhere you go with it. as for micron rating try googling for the user manual, i think i may have found it, then i realised i dont have adobe pdf reader installed yet.

I tried googling it for a few hours. Nothing. As for 230v, I've actually got it in my garage's electrical service. Not sure about where you're from but around here houses get 230v service for clothes dryers and things like that.

If you want to use 230v you can, personaly i find it to be an inconveniance in the usa because if you do ever need to take it out of your shop it'll be hell trying to find a 230volt plug, without unpluging a stove or cloths dryer. if your only going to be using it in your shop go for it. the specs seem rely good, and the price is rely good for the price, better then paying $300+ for a name brand one with the same specs.

Ok, I see now. You use the vacuum to evacuate the H2O vapor so you don't get: H2O + Hydrochlorofluorocarbons = hydrofluoric acid = bad.

Yes, I am very familiar with the thermodynamic steam and refrigeration cycles; however, I didn't realize he was building this completely from the ground up and would be evacuating the system.

I assumed most people bought self contained systems usually, but I guess its like anything else, why buy, when you can build your own, better system.

I've decided to go for it. Looks like I'm gonna win to auction *fingers crossed*. Also, I have a generator that does 220 so if I need to move it I'm cool.
