Default TXV/TEV's and EEV's

Hey guys,

Couple of questions:
  1. Does anyone know where I can buy TXV's or EEV's?
  2. Can TXV's be adjusted to open or close based on custom temperatures?
  3. How do I get an EEV to open based on a temperature sensor? Do I need some kind of signal converter?

[TXV = Thermostatic Expansion Valve = TEV]
[EEV = Electronic Expansion Valve]

Thanks!

Let's see...
1) Yes, Johnstone, ebay, plenty of places. Simply gotta look and find one in the temp range and capacity you want.
2) No, TXV are by nature self regulating. They attempt to create a a constant superheat through measurement and self adjustment.
3) Alot more then that, EEV's are incredibly expensive, and require full control systems to measure all the variables of a system, not just the evaporator temperature.

ah, thanks for the reply!

in regards to question #2, I know that TXV's are self regulating, so I'm wondering can I set the TXV to maintain a specific superheat other than what it was manufactured to maintain?

thanks again and +1 for the help

It's not a lot of adjustment you should know. And your best not touching it at all.
If you want "adjustability" you use a CPEV, turn the screw on that to change and control the suction pressure. Bit expensive though. $40-60 for a good one.
