So what is the difference between a phase system and a cascade system?

Well you know what phase is...yes.
A cascade is just several stages...you can have a phase cascade or a TEC cascade or a water cascade.(waterfall...) Usually most people have single stage Phase to get down to one temp or another ( I am not sure what exactly I am not a phase guy.) a phase cascade just uses more levels basically put...more (partial) phase systems joined together in a series to get to colder temps. As I understand it only a three stage cascade will get you the really low temps shown in the posts of some of the members here. Usually only the better builders build them because they require better knowledge of gasses and careful tuning so the whole system works together as efficiently as possible...and they are very expensive. Not 100% sure about the temps...like I said I am not a phase guy. -EC-unrockstar on XS is building a 5 stage cascade so far he is down to -148 not sure if that's fourth stage or the fifth. Last edited by zipdogso : 09-02-09 at 08:43 AM |
