How long is a piece of string....I think there is a maximum (or is that minimum) that a single stage can get down to but how far down any one unit goes depends on it's gassing/pressure etc and this is set by the builder.

As I understand it an "off the shelf" vapochill will have difficulties getting a i7 really cold but a custom built unit can be set to work much better.

Obviously the vapochill will work a little bit better on the 955 than an i7.

So you see your question is a bit difficult to answer....and obviously a phase guy will be better informed than me.

Average temp for single stage is -45c to -55c loaded. A premade SS from the store might hold a AMD quad but your best bet is to buy from a custom builder. That way you know the unit will be well built, usually cheaper than a premade one, and will definitely handle the heat load from the cpu.

Sdumper and NoL here on OCN are SS and cascade builders; provided they use the same names/aliases on XS. Where i have read about there builds.
