Default PC hdd with PS2?

Is there a way that I could format an old hardrive using my computer to make it work on my PS2?
If so please explain or send me links. I do not want to mod my Ps2 or have to buy HDadvance.

thank you.
I have an old PC hdd laying around and i want to use it with my PS2. Yes I have the network adapter.

I dont think the PS2 HDD and a normal PC HDD are the same thing. Im going to have to say no, you cant do this. I have a PS2 HDD laying around packed up somewhere. So that's why I think no.

Yes it will work. Wd's will not fit. Any other brnad will work up to 250 GB. Then you will need Hd Avanced 3.0 to format it or the sony ps2 hdd software.

even so, is the ps2 capable of recognizing it? it only uses memory cards for storage so would it know what to do with an HDD plugged into it?

The HDD w/ that thing is worthless. I just put about 300mb worth of GT and SOCOM saves on it.

You can use...backups...on it.

http://www.hdadvance.com/usb_extreme_whatis.htm
I used that when I still had my PS2. Put my backups on it.

Just need an HDD with an external enclosure with USB on it.
