Are there any aftermarket Slot-Loading Blu Ray Drives for the adventurous modders? I'd love to see someone swap it for like an 8x drive, and a 7200 RPM HDD, just to see how much faster the game installs are.

Argh, I just looked it up, and the only Slot-Loading Blu Ray drives on Newegg are Sony 2X Drives, lol. Talk about a useless upgrade.

When I placed my new hard drive into my ps3 it stated "Cannot start. The correct hard disk was not found." Can anyone help me with this problem? Thanks in advance

I replaced mine last night with a new Seagate Momentus 5400.6 ST9500325AS 500GB 5400 RPM 8MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Notebook Hard Drive - OEM drive.

Mine did the same thing after I started it up and formatted. But I restarted the PS3 by holding the power button and then it worked fine.

Does anybody know why this might happen and is there any need for concern?

Its working fine now, I installed the most recent system update and all seems well.

There was a comparison that showed the gains from a 7200 RPM drive was minimal.

Yes you can hook up external HDDs, but they have to be fat32 which has a smaller partition size limit I believe.

Also i saw something saying ps3 cant edit files on an external drive... is this true?

Well I can see that being true, usually if you are hooking up an external drive you are just using it to view and play media files, or backup/upload saved game files. I'm not sure what else you could really do with it.
