Ugh I forgot the main question I had, my video card has two DVI ports. I was wondering if I could simply insert HDMI-DVI into the second port? I don't know what to expect once this is done, or what to do to get the video playing on my monitor.

My rig is connected to the PS through RCA to the Creative front panel for sound and HDMI to DVI for the monitor.

Hey Transonic,

Thank you oh so much for this very informative topic!

I have one question though when using the PS3 with the speakers using your setup: PS3 --> Component Cable --> Female/Female RCA Adapter --> RCA to Headset Jack Cable --> Female/Female Headset Jack Adapter --> Computer Speakers.

How does it actually sound? Does it all sound like crap or is it as good as it "should" be?
Does the sterosound work or is it all mono?

Please do answer if you, or anyone else, knows how it's like!

Thank you.

it actually sounds fine. I recommend just using the optical output into your sound card if you have one.

I have an optical input on my PC and on the PS3. But not on my speakers.
Or is there any way of using the optical input on the PS3 and then put some kind of adapter like: PS3 optical input --> adapter (optical to 3,5mm female) --> speakers?

EDIT: I have a Logitech speakersystem, kind of like this one: Speaker System Z313 (Logitech).

I have a question, similar to the one above. Im using my motherboards on-board sound system.
Can I just run an optical cable from the port on my PC to the one on my Ps3, and have my speakers plugged in the green port (sorry im not audio savvy, not sure what its really called ) on my motherboard?

That is EXACTLY what I want to know aswell. Would really save me some space with just one optical cable instead of these different cables I use now.
