The monster cables are very very slightly higher quality then an average cable. They massivly overcharge for them, I wouldn't recommend one to anyone.

thats what I have configured on my big TV's reciever currently.

Trying to migrate everything into my room so I dont have to run up and down stairs to use one thing and another. I'm lazy. XD

Default Please help.

Okay, after following your instructions and buying an hdmi-->dvi cable to connect to my monitor, for some reason, the ps3 is not recognised - the monitor saying 'could not support video mode', or something along those lines...
I know there is no problem with the moinitor, or the ps3 - everything should work.
Should the settings on the ps3 be changed maybe?
Do you have any ideas regarding this problem?, any info would be greatly appreciated.

Try this, first make sure everything is plugged in and power off the PS3. Then hold the PS3 power button for about 5 seconds. This should reset the video/audio settings to default and you should see something on your screen. From there go in and manually set the video settings to 480p, 720p, 1080p, etc.

Make sure you check them all so that way if your monitor doesn't support 1080p is drop down to 720p instead of just giving you a black screen.

Thank you, thank you so much! Getting this to work was my dream, and now it does thanks to you.
I did exactly what you said, now the ps3 operates at 720p, just what my lcd tv was. Perfect!
Now, all I need to do is work out the audio.
Thankyou again for the quick reply and the right answer.

Default One more thing...

For the audio, is what you suggested the easiest method, or is there a one cable solution?
I looked around...would an rca minijack adapter do the job?

Hey transonic, I have the same setup as you for a while, but I just stumbled across this guide and am wondering, how much did that dvi switch cost you, swapping cables is getting annoying, and vga from the computer is being weird so I have to use dvi for the computer. I searched google and other places and cheapest I could find was 60$ for a no-name semi-don't trust the site, everything else was 80$+ which is way too much for me.

Yeah - I had a problem when I first got the PS3 last Christmas where it would turn on but not display. Simple little 5 second turn on button fixed it.

Im still confused -
I want my Logitech speakers to work with my PS3 in 5.1 surround sound but I can't figure out how to do so. The guide shows stereo.

I have a weird setup but it allows me to run all 5 speakers and the sub, I have the rca cables coming out of the ps3 for audio -> rca to 3.5mm adapter -> audio input for computer -> output using speakers from the computer and the computer controls all the volume, works great for me but I'm also in a dorm room and not sure if its truely 5.1 or just like 2.1 but using the speakers for the same sound.
