wow there is an awful lot of misled information and terrible bias in this thread

the graphics are the same on each console, the controllers are for you to decide which you like best, each console takes a different approach to its audience (PS3 is a media center, 360 is primarily a gaming machine)

GET THE PS3

The PS3 might have better graphics capability, but that rarely exhibits itself. The controller is a matter of personal preference, I prefer the 360. Price is ≈, the 360 does not have poor graphics, it has more games, some of which are poorly developed, and would be just as bad if they were released on PS3. I'm not exactly sure where you got this "Limited Lifespan" argument, the PS3 has a "Limited Lifespan," everything you own has a "Limited Lifespan," so unless you are arguing that the 360 has a more limited lifespan than the PS3 I don't see your point. If that is the argument you are making, I'd appreciate a valid source on this statement. Yes, you do have to pay for Xbox Live, but it is better the PSN, except for the army of 12yr olds.

The things that should factor into your decision are:
Online: Xbox >> PS3
Reliability: PS3 >> Xbox
Game library: Xbox >> PS3
Exclusive titles: PS3 >> Xbox

If you already have a PC that can play games, get a PS3. Xbox 360 games aren't exclusive and always goes to PC, though you have to wait, but at least you get better graphics, you can modify settings, and online is free. Xbox 360 is a PC but the components are not upgradeable. So you're pretty much better off with a PS3, where exclusives are actually exclusive.

Yeah, I'd say for all accessories and such PS3 >> Xbox, 360 stuff is overpriced. I like the Media capabilities of the PS3 better, but the 360 is still pretty good.

People are saying that the X360 is cheaper, but I don't believe that. It's $350 right now and the PS3 is $400. But you add in only 1 year of XBL which is what "makes the 360 so great" and its the same price $400.

I say go with the games you want to play. For me, if I were to go one way, it'd be PS3 for Gran Turismo, but I'm a die hard racing fan. I don't own either console but I own Forza 2 and it got boring pritty fast.

GO FOR THE GAMES!

The graphics are more or less the same. However the PS3's hardware is far superior and futureproof. The 360 on the other hand isn't. It depends on what you want.

Personally id get the PS3 because its what has been driving the console market for many years, the controllers aren't like holding a brick with too many buttons, it looks like a modern piece of equipment, its futureproof and should hopefully have some great features sometime soon.

Ok what is "proper HD output? The 360 has capability's of 1080p output just like the ps3.

The PS3 will not be futureproof when the new Xbox comes out in 1 or 2 years, which you will be able to play all 360 games and new Xbox games that will be out. And you can put the money you save towards a new Xbox when it comes out.

Also explain to me how the PS3 has been leading the console market for years if it only came out a year ago?? As far as I know it was Sony, Nentendo, Sega and later the Xbox that have all contributed to the console market. It was Nentendo that made all the inovations anyways: Rumble Pack, Sholder Buttons, Motion Sencing.

I the PS3 and its great 4 online gaming,Aparently you have to pay for this with gold,bronze and silver vouchers. Well i mybe wrong but you do need these grades apparently for online play.Were on PS3 its all free,chatting,freebies from the ps3 store & much more cool things to come to,Word of advice DO NOT get the 40gb one as this new model dont run ps1,ps2 games also film as i have a few freands who are angry about this as they were told otherwise.The 50gb version the 1 you want ,Thats if you pick a Ps3 of course.And as above states it depends entirely on the games you play.(IMO PS3 anyday 360s getting old now also compared). both are good pieces off kit though.Im on the ps3 typing this gotta get usb keyboard.What ever you decide to buy Enjoy ;p
