I have YellowDog Linux installed on my PS3. Can I use it as a web server?

Sure. Apache HAS to have a PPC port.

I couldn't find any instructions online. I've never actually set up a server myself before since I've always purchased services. Can you link me to a guide on how to set up a server, whether there's a special guide for PS3 or just an ordinary guide like for any PC?

edit: have you tried searching for tutorials for yellowdog web servers? if you still can't find any, maybe try a different linux?

I'd try "yum install apache". Yum stands for Yellow Dog Updater Modified, so it should be the default package manager in YDL. If yum can find the appropriate PowerPC package of apache, then it'll install by itself, otherwise you may have to install from source. Google around for "powerpc apache".
If I were you, I'd ditch Yellow Dog alltogether. Fedora and Ubuntu both have PPC versions which are much more mainstream and documented.

I thought YD was the very best for PS3. Which of those two you mentioned would you prefer'

If none of those work, you could also try Gentoo and build Apache from the source.
