I'm looking at my PS3 audio settings to activate 5.1 seeing as I just installed my setup yesterday, and saw that there were 3 options that looked 5.1 capable, the obvious DTS and Dolby Digital (What're the differences between them?) and AAC. I'm not sure about AAC, and was wondering what it did/was used for. Anyone know?

Advanced Audio Coding (AAC) is the successor to MP3 audio format. I think PS3 rips music using AAC by default

Should I have it ticked or not? Also, is Dolby 5.1 or DTS 5.1 better?

AAC is miles better
there is a slight noticable differance between mp3 and aac, i find aac to be louder and treble more defined

DTS is actually better then dolby as it can hit higher bit rates however you would need a dts capable receiver to use it.

Just have your recieve auto-detect the signal. I personally prefer DTS.
