Why not just get the "metal gear solid essential Collection" it brings all 3 first games and its cheap as hell and a lot cheaper than buying the originals all together. Only 30 bucks surprised no one mentioned this.

gahhh. you're like the 5th person to say that.

haha sorry, not having a go. but if you read earlier, im from Australia, we use PAL coding here when region coding applies. which it does on the PS2 and its games.

and since im only borrowing the PS2, i really dont see a point in buying a mod chip, to play like 3 games.

i got an ISO for MGS1 and put it on my PSP, then i bought a copy of MGS2 and MGS3 for $50 for both.

playing MGS on the PSP with headphones has been one of the best experiences, since with headphones you get right into the story, in your own little world, feels more personal. spewing there isnt a portable version of Sons of Liberty. im looking forward to playing it.

oh, my, god.

thank god that is finally over!

lol dont get me wrong, MGS1 was one of the best games i've ever played, and i can understand the fan phenomenon it has created, but it goes on and on and was BLOODY hard. lol.

took me 12 hrs 54mins on the difficulty above easy..i dont even wanna think about playing this game on any harder.

i might go through it again, i got the nice ending by surviving the torture, but kinda wished i got the bad ending first, to get the camo device. oh well.

on to MGS2: Sons of Liberty

haha spewin. i hear its going to be released on the PSN Store sometime anyway...it already has in Japan. cant wait for that.

as for that boss fight..

Psycho Mantis?

well the PSP version is a direct image copy of the PSX version. the POPSLoader version i used on my PSP allows for controller port switching.

so yes, i did cheat there. but only coz i had too.

you just switch over the controller port, you get the black screen with HIDEO in the corner, then yeah.

i actually did the Cyborg Ninja/Gray Fox fight and the Psycho Mantis fight without the thermal goggles, since i missed them at the start, found them when i had to go find the PSG1 to take on Sniper Wolf.

i now get why people claim Hideo is on crack when he writes this stuff...that or he was friends with Lewis Carrol around the time he wrote Alice in Wonderland, and they shared what he was on.

yeah i got a 40GB PS3, which can play PS1 games (that are original and coded to your country region only, apparently) but it cant play PS2 games. so i had to borrow my mates PS2, and buy a second-hand copy of MGS2 and MGS3.

but i tried finding an original copy of MGS1 on ebay, i posted my find in a thread. a copy went in Australia for $220 or something close to that. no way in hell i was gonna cough up that kind of money for that game.

so i just..aquired.. a PS1 2 PSP image and put it on my PSP.

Personally, I wouldn't skip 3 if you can find it cheap. It may not directly tie in to the events in 4, but it is still a great game, and my favorite story besides MGS1. MGS3 was a bit harder for me to get into, but once I did I found I liked it better than MGS2.

The bad ending is definitely more emotional than the good one. I saved the game right before the last boss and would play through it occasionally just to hear the ending theme "The Best is Yet to Come." The events of the bad ending, along with the song and Naomi's voiceover killed me.
