ok, so i've never played a MGS game before. just bought MGS4 coz its meant to be awesome, and i read up on a lot of the "whats happened so far" websites, but its even more confusing than playing the games i rekon. i wanna know the story.

so basically, im borrowing my mates PS2 (since i have the 40gb PS3) and i bought MGS2 - sons of liberty and MGS3 - snake eater for $50. gonna play the first 3.

as for the original, to get a PS1 copy is pretty dam expensive, since ebay is the only real source and they want like $50+ for a copy. but then i remembered theres a PC port, which is meant to be just as good.

so has anyone played both the PS1 and PC version of the original MGS and can tell me which is better? i have a gamepad for my PC that is designed exactly the same as a PS2/PS3 controller. reason i ask, its a lot easier to 'obtain' a copy for PC than PS1.

do copied versions of PS1 games work on the PS3? i remember back in the day the PS1 had to have a mod chip. do they work in the PS3?

yeah..coz i got quite a few PS1 games i bought from Bali YEARS ago..they are stored away somewhere, was just wondering if anyone got them to work on PS3. coz then i could just get the MGS images from somewhere and burn them.

but yeah, might just settle for the PC version anyway.

If you have a gamecube, you can get the remake called Twin Snakes, gameplay of course is a bit different, but story is the same. Oh and MGS2: Sons of Liberty, best game ever, its my all time favorite in the history of video games.

You know, there's a 3 disk box set of the first 3 games that's only like $30... I plan on buying it if I ever get any money again.

yeah i do, well i have a Wii and gamecube controllers.. but i heard Twin Snakes is no where near as good as MGS 1 on PS1.. apparently the methods of story telling are way different, and the controller is really horrible to use.

yeah but im in Australia, that 3-disc set is NTSC, we use PAL over here. and i cant be bothered mod-chipping my mates PS2.

and my PS3 is the 40gb, so no backwards compatibility, plus the region coding wouldnt work anyway.

Default Completed MSG4

Howdy

I've completed MGS4. You really need to play the first one as the 4th references to it alot. Worth the money for the full story...and there is a ton of story in the 4th. IMO.
