I have got adsl internet with a D-Link DSL-604+ wireless router.
I used the automatic wireless setup in the PS3 menu and got connected fine but my signal strength was only like 85% through 2 bedrooms. Overall the internet speed on the PS3 seems way too slow and I tried hooking it up wired and it was much faster. How do i set this up properly and how do I get some security, I live in a an apt building and don't want anyone stealing my signal. Thanks

i would have thought that was good.
If you aren't happy with it, just buy a 10M CAT5E or something. Wired is always better - if you can live with it ![]()

Just use MAC filtering on your router and a good, strong password for your network. It's unlikely that anyone will be able to hack in. And if they can, well, there's nothing you can do anyway.

Vista uninstalled again..

Even at 25% speed, it's going to be as fast as your internet connection can go anyways.

Quote:
its running at 25% the speed of what my internet connection is capable of like 600kbps as opposed to 2500kbps what about channels on the router does that have anything to do with it

it all connects to one channel...just like how when you had setup your ps3 wireless connection you still had to give it the # and letters for router in order for it to connect. It could get slow at times I know this because I have a 1.4mbps connection and when playing COD4 on the ps3 sometimes it would get very laggy due to the wireless connection.
If anything why don't you use a ethernet wire like a 20ft one and connect it to your router? Maybe itll be faster that way like some people already mentioned.

if you don't know how to set-up the router using advanced settings. You can always refer to the CD that came with your router. Using the software on the CD, follow the instructions and set-up a secure password, and router password.
__________________After you do that, go to 192.168.0.1 in your browser. This show bring you to the D-link advance settings page. Type in your router password. When you arrive in the settings. Click on the settings tab. You will see a variety of choices where you can set-up. Try tweeking the settings from there. P.S. try changing channels on your Wi-fi signel. Good luck! ![]()
