NONE of the new PSP-3000's are currently un-flashable. I have read that Dark aleX is currently working on a fix for this.

Alright, after discussing it with a few mods to be sure there aren't any legal issues, I thought I'd put together a (hopefully) easy to use guide on flashing a PSP with CFW (custom firmware.) I am by no means a PSP pro, but it really isn't that hard. Actually flashing a PSP is the easy part, getting the APPS to work afterwords is the hard part.

*NOTES*
Myself, nor the staff of Overclock.net are responsible if you brick your PSP. Even if you do, it is still not the end of the PSP, they can be debrickafied.

Things you will need:

PSP (der)
A memory stick with at least 256mb; I used my 4 gig with no issues.
Your PSP charger *MAKE SURE YOUR BATTERY IS AT LEAST 78% CHARGED*
A Pandora Battery (Will discuss later)

**ALSO BE SURE TO BACK UP YOUR MEMORY STICK IF YOU ARE GOING TO USE YOUR MAIN STICK, YOU WILL LOSE ALL YOUR DATA.**
Quote:
You want to go ahead and download this file:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/r3hmt2

Go ahead and connect your PSP to your pc and go into USB mode. Go into "My Computer" and make note of the drive letter of your PSP.

*THIS IS FOR SLIM USERS! I DO NOT KNOW IF THIS WORKS WITH FATS!*

Procedure:
01. Unzip or rar the file and go to the Easy installer file and click the "START" icon.
02. Select your language obviously.
03. Find and press the "any" key.
04. Input the drive letter of the PSP that you noted earlier.
05. Select option 1. "Continue to Pandora installer"
06. Disable the USB connection on the PSP, go to "System Settings" and format your memory stick.
07. Then enable the USB connection again and press enter to continue. - **Very Important to enable USB before continuing!**
09. You have already inserted the memory stick so press enter.
10. When it asks to format, type "y".
11. Take out the Memory Stick and then disable the USB.
12. Then insert the Memory Stick and enable the USB again.
13. Find and press that any key again.
14. Select Option 4 "Universal unbricker for FAT or SLIM" (This will now install CFW 3.71 m33-2 - OMG! ALMOST THERE!)
15. Type 4 and Press ENTER
16. The files will now be installed to the Memory Stick.
17. After it has finished writing the files, type Y and it will finish the install.
18. Press amy key to close the DOS box.
19. Now go to the ADD_ON folder that was included with the download above.
20. Drag the PSP folder and 1.50.PBP to the ROOT of the Memory Stick.
21. When it ask to over Write choose YES TO ALL. (You should have backed up your PSP already so it doesn't matter.)
22. You can now go to /PSP/GAME folder and delete the despertar_cementerio, pan3xx, ospbt, pandora_battery and pandora_battery% folder because they are not needed.

23. Now, just get a pandora battery or a Datel Tool, to put the psp into service mode and press X to start downgrading/unbricking slims to 3.71m33-2
24. After this is all done, take out the Pandora battery and and put it the regular battery and hold your breath!

Don't forget to format your mem stick after this is all done.
A Pandora battery is used to put the PSP into service mode. You HAVE to have one in order to flash a PSP Slim. I have one, and we may be able to turn it into a loaner for Overclock.net, we'll have to see.

See any issues or need me to revise something, lemme know!

EDIT:
When this is done, you will be on CFW 3.71 m33. You will need to manually flash it to 3.80 m33-4 and then you can auto update to 4.01 m33-2 if you wish.

When your all done, go to System Settings < System Information.

LINKS:

http://www.dark-alex.org/index_psp.php - dark-alex is the premo PSP CFW developer. I wouldn't run anything but his stuff. You can get your firmwares from him directly.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

So, "Krunk," you ask with a slight look of puzzlement, "LEIK WUT CAN I DO WIT TEH CFW?"

Well, I'm glad you asked.

Homebrew being one of the coolest things possible on the PSP.

Things like, Call of Duty 2 PSP EDITION!

And PSP REVOLUTION!

And to cater to the Overclock.net crowd, you can essentially "overclock" the PSP:

You need to have the Pandora Battery to do this process. I personally grabbed one from dealextreme.com for $10.50 shipped. It did take about two weeks to arrive though.

Take out your battery and look behind it. It will say either PSP2000 or PSP2001, and that is a Slim, but yes the GoW Edition is a Slim.

And you absolutely need a Pandora battery to flash a Slim.

You guys that are running CFW; feel free to offer up input, I'd be happy to add it to the guide.

I only got into PSP's 3 weeks ago, and I love the damn thing

I was thinking maybe we could use my Padora as a loaner since I'm Overclock.net staff.

I think I may require a rep requirement though.

Where???

I searched and nothing came up....

EDIT:

Ahh, I missed your edit. Well then, it's still legit.

I looked at all the different methods to flash a PSP and this was the easiest one I could find.

I made one where it showed you how to do the pandora's battery via hardware mod and then a quick software flash.
