Well, I could never get it to work (too bad they don't tell you which files it's looking for, or rather... where), but I followed another guide and installed 3.71, then updated to 5.00.
Great success.

Now all I need is to find a way to make the PSP route more power to the headphone port. They're much quieter than with my previous player.

Go figure, the readme told you how to use it? nowai

Seriously though, that's the largest problem in the homebre commmunity. People expecting it to just work. They do not even attempt to read the readme and come screaming to the forums.

Remember, if it's a homebrew that only has one folder, it usually goes in your GAME folder and you play it from your native firmware. If it's a homebrew that has folders like this: "IRHOMEBREW" and "IRHOMEBREW%" these go in the GAME folder as well, but need to be ran from the 1.5FW kernel.

Haha, well, there are usually instructions in the program itself :P
Or at least, there's somewhere that tells you which buttons do what :3

Anyway, I'm having a hard time playing MP4 files. I tried doing it the "official" way, sticking it in the OFW's folders and formatting the file name right ... and it found it - but it says it's incompatible (I know for a fact this MP4 plays, because somebody on OCN tested it for me a while ago :P).

What do you use to play MP4s?

And ugh, it kinda sucks how there isn't really any good resource for PSP knowledge (or at least I can't find one), so I have to keep bothering you :E sorry :x
I went through like 10 pages on QJ, but can't find a player which works, or one that works well =/

mpeg4's should just play directly from the video directory...

On OCN there's a lot of PSP traffic... but try googling and you'll see what I mean. Tons of olddddd posts which are no longer relevant and incomplete guides.

For example, I had to create the video directory because I didn't have one (took me ages to find somewhere that tells you the format it's supposed to be in).
Or the DAX PSPWiki doesn't tell you where game and video ISOs go... stuff like that.
It's all so very ambiguous.

Can you show me your MP4 path (including a sample filename) please? ;_;

edit: Turns out it has to be in X:\VIDEO\blah.mp4, not X:\MP_ROOT\100MNV01\... which is what most outdated websites say =/
