Although when talking about graphics, I wouldn't say the 360 has better graphics. Although many games that are ported to PS3 may be minutely better on 360 (not noticeably when playing though), it's not that the PS3 doesn't have the capability. If you've played MGS4 or Killzone 2, then you know what I mean. Those are the two most beautiful looking console games I've ever seen.

Although Metal Gear Online isn't first-person, it's third (zooming into first doesn't count, since you can only look down the iron sights/scope when you do that). SOCOM Confrontation is a fun shooter, but it's third person too.

But Resistance and Resistance 2 should also be on that list, although I personally didn't like Resistance's multiplayer (campaign was fun though). But I've heard that Resistance 2 was better in almost every way.

Killzone 2 is really fun, I just got it yesterday. I'm almost finished with the campaign and played a little online. I suck online, being a newbie and all, but I've been getting better and it's still fun
IMO it has a good balance of health and the strength of the weapons. It's not like Halo, where it takes an entire clip with an assault rifle in someone's face to kill them, but it's not like CoD4 where it takes one burst in the chest from an M16 to kill someone.

There is also Unreal Tournament 3 on both, if you want to play them on a console (for some reason). I also played the demo for Battlefield Bad Company, and it was really fun online. I didn't play the campaign, but I watched a friend play it. It seemed pretty typical for a campaign FPS. But online was very fun in my opinion.

I know the jaggies you're talking about, but I'm guessing they are due to poor coding because I don't see them in Killzone 2 (LOTS of shadows).

The reason i want to get a console is that it has become too expensive to upgrade my hardware for the new titles... eg crisis and Far cry 2

For FPS you really want to get a 360, no question, theirs much more games an xbox live is much better than PSN for online gaming an not to mention the controller just pwns the playstation controller for FPS games, though i myself just cant play a FPS with a controller anyway.

Unless you really want Halo or Gears of War and every milked repetitive reincarnation of them, get a PS3. There are more and better exclusives, as others have pointed out.

Currently there are actually more fps's on the PS3 then on the 360 (no one mentioned Warhawk in the ps3 exclusives surprisly, its basically like BF2 for the pc, or the new SOCOM game) , and ironically more rpg's on the 360 then on the ps3. The PC is still the FPS king, you might actually be able to upgrade your rig for the same price as either console and play all fps at a respectable frame rate, a 4770 for example only costs about $100 now.

Two Cents On this.

Xbox 360
Easy to mod DVD drive for reasons that I can't say.
Usually cheaper and even cheaper for games for the above reason.
Some say easier controller to use.
Game selection to a point is nicer.

PS3
No Mod to dealing with DVD drive (no mod chips that worth the time)
Can play backups of most old games.
PS store is MY OPINION is better and usually has what I want.
Scales better with HDMI than xbox 360 (once opinion not fact)
Fold
Linux
Honestly easier to network (Opinion)

Edit of well if you just play FPS.
And don't care about visual or anything else
XBox 360 with first reason why.

Why do people say Live is better for multiplayer? Do you get to choose servers or anything? I didn't think so. Do the other people compete better? How can you really say that? The only difference is the marketplace. Playing against other people, the only difference is price.

People say live is better because, there is a higher population of people, People actually get banned for modding, the cost helps keep some of the kiddies away( not saying that it works but it helps a little)

Gotta go with the 360 aside from the games, the controller actually has triggers and the joysticks in the right place.

The 360 does two things well, shooters and driving games.
