Well if all your friends have 360's buy that because of XBL, the games are slightly cheaper if you buy older ones and the console itself cost's less than the PS3.

THe ps3 is still really good, I would recommend it but most people own 360's so Online wouldn't be as fun without personal friends.

Go PS3. People who say XBL keeps the kids away are kidding themselves. I have almost never seen a kid on PSN. However they are on XBL all the time.

Nowadays a FPS is pointless without online and PS3's is free. Any FPS that is considered good on XBOX is on the PS3 aswell except for H3 and GoW2. Plus it has Resistance 1 & 2, MGS4, Warhawk, the upcoming MAG, and countless others.

Go for it you won't regret it.

Being an owner of both systems, I'd have to say that PS3 has better graphics most of the time, and games that are developed specifically for PS3 are even better. I use both systems on HDMI at 720p, so maybe that makes a difference. XBOX 360 controller is better than PS3, especially for FPS and Fighting games.

I do testing on the 360 and own a ps3 at home. Graphics are much better on the PS3 but many games are optimized only for Xbox (most games that run the UT3 engine for example). Games exclusive to the PS3, i don't even see possible to run on the 360. PS3 has better framerates (this is a fact), so side-by-side comparison of the same game looks good on 360 but almost surreal on the ps3. I prefer the PSN marketplace and classy UI over the imitation Mii's and LIVE interface.

It all comes down to preference, you will not be disappointed for choosing one console over the other. They will both satisfy you.

I know it's completely subjective, but the only "nice" thing about the xbox 360s controller is that it's ergonomic. The buttons are squishy, it's heavy, and the web (d-pad) is absolutely terrible for fighting games...

I've got a PS3, so I may be a bit biased, but I love it. I don't play a huge amount of games on it (Killzone, Resistance 2, Rockband, Riddick: AODA) but I love it because it's blu-ray and it works as a great media extender. My entire DVD collection is on a network drive, so I just watch the dvds off the network drive.

Yes but ps3 uses its much more powerful cell processor to do most of the graphics work.

Anyway list of fps's: Resistance 2,Killzone 2, MGS4, SOCOM, umm thats all i can think of that are really worth playing atm.
