Default PSP Go to have apps?

Quote:
Sony to launch PSP Go app store?
June 14th, 2009 Posted in Business, Casual, DLC, Online, PSP

Ever since Apple launched the App store for the iPhone and iPod touch, every phone maker has been working on app stores for games and applications, even Nintendo launched the DSi Shop alongside the new DSi handheld console.
Since Sony’s upcoming PSP Go has 16 GB of built in memory, the possibility is certainly there of downloading smaller games that are made by indie developers and not published the regular way.
According to recent rumors, Sony is readying such a store, where indie developer will be able to publish their games (up to 100 MB), and either selling them or publishing them for free. It will also be possible to publish non-game applications.
Source

Just discovered this article, a little old but interesting nonetheless. With the built in 16g+ the expandable memory, Sony could really have something to compete with the ipod touch in terms of Apps.. if indeed they make em.

Am I the only one thats getting a Go? I am surprised there is not more buzz on this site about em. Seems like it could replace my ipod video in my pocket. I have been thinking about the new 32g Itouch, but this news throws a kink in that thought process.

It seems to me the Ipod can not be top dog forever, zune has tried its hardest to make a dent, maybe sony can offer some help in this.

LOL i guess the PSP Go is officially a dead topic! :P

I figured someone would find this interesting. Guess not! lol

On a side note I have also seen remarks from other sites that the Sony is supposed to be making something to convert UMDs to be able to transfer to the Go. They would almost have to to get people to buy the Go (who already have psp's of yesteryear.)

Wouldn't it just be a part of the Playstation Store? That would make sense.

Yes, thats what they are talking about doing. BUT they are trying to bring over ppl to make apps for the PSP like they do for the Itouch, thats what Im getting at. If you can get the same type of content for the psp that you can get for the itouch's, I think that would take a noticeable chunk out apples pocket.

If you get every capability of the itouch in a PSP.. the obvious choice to buy would be the PSP(you cant play GT on an itouch lol)

..But you probably won't be able to slap a CFW on it... u_u

Not that I pirate games, but I prefer ripping my games so I can play them off the memory, much faster this way. They're going to have to find an "official" way to let you do that so it's supported, I'm a little confused about the Go actually...

No UMD instantly means you need to install the stuff in somehow. How exactly do you go around to doing that if you have the UMDs? So that'd mean there's either a way to import your games in, re-download them from PSN Store... or what else? And even if they do add apps... I really doubt they'd beat some of the homebrews out there, or the ability to play emulators(heck, who doesn't like to play their old SNES cartridges on their handheld!)

Nothing is unhackable.. Someone will figure out how, and fast. I would imagine we will see the first hacked Go around christmas time.

The reason I am getting a new Go is because A) my old psp got traded for an xbox hd lol a long long time ago. b) it is a good bit smaller and will do everything I need out of an everyday object. With the ability to have apps(hopefully) it will continue to grow with my needs.

old news. The PSP Go (and the original PSPs as well) will have the option to purchase what are called PSP Minis.

No-one really cares about the Go because it's just another PSP with an even more horrendous control scheme.
