Default PS2 Thermal Pad Question

Hey guys. Have a 90001 Ps2 slim I am working on. I plan on giving this to my little cousin once this issue is fixed, anyway, here is my question.

About 15 minutes of playing any game, the console will shut off and the power light will go red and flash on and off. Did some research and found it is overheating. I took it apart and found evidence that it had been taken apart before. Seen screws that have been rounded off and when i took off the small heatsink / cage that goes overtop the whole motherboard i found that the thermal pad is not there. I cant use thermal paste as the is a gap between the chip and heatsink because the pad should be there. Does anyone know of any material i could use as a thermal pad. Thanks

Not thick at all, about as thick is a DVD. I guess i can buy some, but wondered if there was anything that could substitute it.

I dont think there is.. Unless you can glob on the thermal paste to accommodate the gap.

That stuff is the shizz. I use it for my video card ram heatsinks, and the heat transfer is incredible. Takes quite a bit of time to get here though, since its coming from China
