So i read awhile back cooking a defective video card can cure dead and artifacting cards, and just now ps3 (right here on OCN)
so my psp was giving me screen artifacts which would go away if i tap the psp on a certain spot. Now it became permanent. It is out of warranty so I have to fix it myself. I took it apart and it wasn't a LCD problem or loose ribbon. The problem only goes away if I BEND THE FREAKING MOBO, slightly. So I figure it's a microfissure somewhere such that when i bend the thing it fixes the contacts. so I want to bake it. but it is a PSP mobo which has thin plastic parts. and there's also a small battery soldered on there like the cmos battery. I dont know if the plastic will melt or the battery will explode when cooking it. Any ideas? perhaps cook at lower temperature? lol i know it's weird but it is my resort. I dont want to pay $80 to get a replacement board when i could just buy a used psp. here's my screen problem from long ago:

I don't think it will help if you bake it. Have you tried swapping a LCD with a working one? You could also try using this LCD in another working slim to see if the LCD is messed up.

try to minimize the spot where the artifacts come from.(try and bend seperate parts of the mobo)
if you're lucky the problem is on the surface and maybe you can smack/bend/.. it enough that it stays

I had this mobo that wouldn't start games or homebrew so I twisted the PSP little and it works sometimes.

How much do you have to bend the board? Could you bend it just enough so it will still fit in the case? If so, then get some small spacers and position them so they flex the motherboard inside the case.

This, that way you won't risk muffing it all together.

aparrently wrapping it in alfoil stops the plastic from melting, don't quote me on it, its just what i've heard. It would be worth a try if you can't bend it into place in the case.
