Thought I would share this. I was in Walmart this morning picking up some Plasti-Dip for my computer case, and stopped in the Electronics section to take a look. The short time I was in there, two different people bought Slim PS2's. This console has been on the market almost 10 years and people are still buying them up. I guess it may be early Holiday shopping, but man, spend a little more money and get the PS3. Maybe its appealing to people for a DVD player for how small it is, but it beats me.

The PS2 was awesome and has a HUGE library of great games, many of them you can get for $20. Only one segment of the gaming market is made up of Mr.Hardcore Earlyadopter. There is a huge market of gamers out there on limited incomes and something like the PS2 lets them in on great gaming on the cheap.

alot of people still have ps2 formatt games so unless you were lucky enough to get a 60gb backward compatible PS3 before they stopped making them, and you had the cash to buy one at the time £400 when they were released here in the UK which also plays PS2 games then a PS2 at £70 now its a cheap way to keep kids entertained.

The PS2 laser dies pretty quickly, at least mine did. 3 PS2 have died on me with its defective laser.

Even though the PS3 has better graphics, maybe the PS2 has a better library of games. PS3 = PSP in terms of limited library of good games.

i got my ps2 when it was first released and since then i have replaced the dvd drive twice lol i even have the PS2 HDD Drive and modem.

but now my ps2 collects dust sad really cause i remembered how awesome it was when it came out and now i look at it and never get the same feeling i never got that feeling with my ps3 either. i just play ps2 games on my ps3 and if im in the mood to play one of my JP games ill bring out my ps2 to play it. Berserk FTW

I myself have 3 PS2's One launch model that still works, also have a network adapter and a 160gb hdd used with hdxtreme. A slim that I got for cheap and use as a dvd player mainly in the spare room. And another fat Ps2 that has a flip top mod, and also a hdd in that also. And yes, nothing plays PSx and PS2 games better than a PS2.
