Hey guys!
I have a ps3 60gb that will not load any games, even off the hard drive. It works perfectly, no startup problems, no freezes in menus or games. It just simply will not load any games up, for example I downloaded Dirt 2 Demo to the hard drive, and it will open the game but it gets stuck at the loading screen, it doesn't freeze just keeps trying to load the game. Out of warranty so that is not an option. ![]() I have taken it apart and cleaned it out, and applied some Artic Silver 5. Didn't make a difference. Also tried reseting the system and re formating the hdd. Still no difference. It is on the latest firmware. I don't think it is overheating, as the fan doesn't crank up that loud and it runs fairly cool. I am guessing it is the HDD or cpu/gpu coming off of the motherboard. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for all you help!

The HDD might be faulty. Try connecting it to your PC and test it.

Yes it recognises them fine, but if I put DVD in, for example, it start's playing but I get theses weird bars running vertically in the middle of the screen

I didn't update it (it is someone else's ps3, they gave to it me reapply thermal paste, as the guy thought it was just overheating). Umm, maybe I can try downgrading, if that is possible? But yes it is on latest firmware.

I am going to see about plugging the drive into my computer. Ohh and about the solder point's, have people baked the ps3's motherboard with a heat gun or placed it in an oven, as you do with gpu's? I am now were near doing that yet, just asking.

Yeah you can put the motherboard of the PS3 into an oven at 200F for like 10 mins and then let it cool in the oven for 10 mins afterwards. I have not done it myself but there is a thread around here on baking your PS3 motherboard to fix it.
