PS3 Firmware downgrade? Pleace help
Hi i updated my ps3 to firmware v3 but i got problems with media server, so is it posible back to v2.xx, by formating hdd, restoring factory setings, updating system via external hdd with older firmware or i need somthing else?

I dont think you can, I put a new HDD in mine and the fimware was the same which means its on a chip somewhere and not on the HDD and restoring the system just wipes your settings not the firmware. What problems are you having? Im on 3.01 and have no problems with streaming media

java ps3 media server, i think is not just server problem because i tryed with external hdd and i still having problems like: if i have movie splited in two parts sometimes one part plays sound onother not, it looks like it is somthink with ps3 console codecs but not with pc

I use ps3 media server as well and thankfully I have no probs with the new firmware. I am quite sure that you cannot downgrade the firmware and even if you reformat the ps3, once it updates, you might get screwed again

You can't login if you aren't running the most current version.
Have you enabled AAC playback or whatever in the options?

I have tried downgrading firmware before on both a PS3 and a PSP. You cant do it. At least everything I have tried. The only suggestion someone gave me was to go out and buy another one and sell my old one before the new firmware became the new standard.
