So after months of acting up my TV finally died this week, this unfortunately forced me to buy a new one with most of the money i had saved up to buy myself a new gaming rig.

This little setback means i have to save for another 6 months before i can afford my dream PC, unfortunate but since i now have a kickass 52 inch Samsung 750 series LCD i figure i should make the best of a bad situation and buy myself a PS3 slim and enjoy that.

This will not be my first PS3 but honestly i mostly used the first for blue ray and madden.

I could use some help picking 4-5 games for the PS3 that i would enjoy.

I was always much more of a PC gamer so would like to concentrate on games that are really better on the PS3 then on a PC, i can wait to play those when i get my new PC sometime next year :/

I have a short list of stuff i was considering:

Mirror's edge
Batman

GTA4 (better on PC?)
Uncharted 1 + 2 (does it matter the order that i play them in?)
Madden 2010
Prince of Persia
Street Fighter 4
Dragon Age (thinking this is probably best on PC...)
Oblivion
Heavenly Sword
Killzone 2 (sceptical about this, the only FPS series i ever liked on console is the halo series)
Metal Gear solid 4
Fallout 3
MW2

Am i missing anything? Any help would be appreciated!


Also a bit off topic but i see quite a few PS3 slims selling for 250$ on craigslist, some even listing the console as new, scam?

If I were you, I'd get Uncharted 1 + 2. It really doesn't matter what order you play them in, but if I were you, I'd start with 1, just because sometimes they make references to it in 2. The first one has quite a bit of replay value, but the second one has much more with online play and its first batch of DLC coming before the year is out.

Also, LittleBigPlanet and Rockband should be on your shortlist, unless you're not a fan of Rockband...

To be honest, I'd get most of the cross-platform ones on PC.

Aside from MGS4, LBP and Uncharted, because they've already been mentioned, the PS3 games that really grabbed me are:

Disgaea 3 (prepare to lose hours in this game...)
Cross Edge (ditto...)
Eternal Sonata (reminded me a lot of Kingdom Hearts in that the first impression was 'kiddy' but looking deeper showed some darker tones...)
Valkyria Chronicles (tactical... finding this one more difficult than usual...)
Folklore (imaginitive...)

Yes, they're all RPGs.

Despite the fact that Lair got almost universally hated on, I actually quite enjoyed it. It wasn't a long game, and the control system (it was the SixaxiS 'launch' title) was a bit of a pig sometimes, but flying around on a dragon was cool.

Valkyria Chronicles is one really unique and enjoyable game, if you can get past the artsy visual style and anime style dialogue. I haven't made much progress in it, but it's incredibly enjoyable. My parents got it for me for Easter for $30. $30 well spent.
