Default PlayStation 3 and HDCP question
Hello my fellow overclocking gamers, I'm buying the PS3 250GB slim edition in November and I have a TV that supports DVI with HDCP (this one).

Now this TV is a fairly old one. 2001-2003 time I think it was made in. I noticed that HDCP went through many revisions (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hdcp#Cryptanalysis).

I'm wondering what HDCP revision the ps3 slim uses?

i would hope that newer revisions would still support older standards

It will work fine. It doesn't matter on the revision.

All that matters is that the TV is an HDCP-complient TV.

I hope that you are right. The last thing I want to do is buy all of this cable and then it doesn't work

I'm about 99.99% positive that everything will be fine. I don't know of any issues where someone has stated that they had a problem with certain HDCP sets and different PS3 versions.

I believe as long as it is an HDCP set, you're good to go.

Also, I thought if you have a DVI interface, HDCP was optional and wasn't required?

PS3 outputs in HDMI. I will use hdmi to dvi adapter to get it hooked up.
